Porcelain Veneers for Portland, Oregon

A durable, celebrity-like smile is within your reach.

What are porecelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin, tooth-colored shells bonded to the front of your teeth. They improve the color, shape, and size of your teeth. You’ve probably seen movie stars with fantastic smiles, they most likely have porcelain veneers (most celebrities do!). But rest assured, you don’t have to pay like a celebrity to have the smile you’ve always dreamed of having. Porcelain veneers are a popular and affordable smile makeover option. With veneers, we can tweak your smile, correct flaws, and enhance specific features, including:

  • Broken and chipped teeth

  • Gaps between teeth

  • Crooked or misaligned teeth

  • Discolored and worn teeth

  • Small or short teeth

If you are wondering if veneers might work for you or wondering how much they cost, or how many you will need to get the smile of your dreams, we can start your virtual consultation right now. It only takes about 30 seconds -- you just submit a couple of selfies. Once you are done, you will get a customized consult from Dr. Katie discussing options and price.

If a virtual consult isn’t your style, no worries Call the office to schedule an in-person, complementary consult now: (503) 227-2444. Or click the link below to schedule a complementary porcelain veneer consult via email.

What to expect on your journey with porcelain veneers in Portland, Oregon:

Step 1: Your first consultation

Since every smile is unique, our dental artist will meet with you one-on-one to talk about your goals, likes, dislikes, and concerns with your smile. We'll visualize how your new smile will harmonize with your facial features and co-create a smile design plan that works for you. You can prepare for this consult by bringing pictures of smiles that you love. We use these photos to discuss what will and will not work for your teeth, and we incorporate these pictures into the creation of your new smile.

Step 2: Test drive your new smile

From your dental scans, x-rays, photos, and your smile goals, we will prepare a “trial smile” so that you can envision what your veneers will look like. During this appointment, we shape your natural teeth, take scans and photos for our high-end dental ceramists, and then send you home in your “trial smile”. You will wear temporaries in the shape of what we think we want your porcelain veneers to look like. This stage of the process is very helpful -- we use your “trial smile” to perfect your veneers. We send this information to our favorite couture dental ceramists. You’ll walk out of Bling Dental wearing temporary veneers so you can test drive your new smile and get used to the brand-new you.

This is a trial run of your new smile, if there are things you would like to change, no problem. Changes can easily be made at this stage of the process.

Still have questions about porcelain veneers in Portland, Oregon?

Well, we have answers.

How much are Porcelain Veneers in Portland, OR?

Veneers can range in price from $850-$2200 per tooth, depending on your dentist, what your tooth needs, and what dental insurance company you have. Although veneers are usually considered “cosmetic”, and insurance will not cover them, many insurance companies negotiate a price that your dentist can charge you for them which will make them less expensive for you.

If you don’t have insurance, a new veneer is $1680. That price does not include a build up (restoring your tooth under the veneer if there is a cavity or other abnormality) nor a gum lift. Our price is above $850 because we use a more expensive dental lab, and all of the latest technology to make your veneers beautiful. We are lower than $2,200 because we want them to be as affordable as possible so that people who need them, can get them.

Will I get cavities under the veneers?

One of the great things about porcelain veneers is they cannot get cavities! While your natural tooth structure is modified to securely bond (or cement) the porcelain veneer on top, you should not develop cavities as long as you keep up with a good hygiene routine. That means brushing and flossing at least twice a day and visiting your dentist for your regular checkups.

How long do porcelain veneers last?

These fantastic smile solutions can last anywhere from 7 to 20 years! The better your hygiene and oral health care, the closer you will be at the 20-year mark. Since natural teeth and gum tissue structure may change over time, it’s important to visit your dentist at least two times per year.

What if one of my veneers falls off?

Porcelain veneers are made of a durable composite material that is as strong as or even stronger than natural teeth. While veneers rarely fall off, now and then you may bite into something really tough (P.S. you shouldn’t do that anyway!), and one of the shells might fall off. If that happens, give us a call right away. We may be able to re-cement the veneer in place.  You can help prevent your veneers from falling off by wearing your night guard if you grind your teeth at night, and avoid biting into super tough or hard foods and materials (fingernails, hard-to-open lids??? we are looking at YOU!)

What if I just want the top teeth to be perfect? Will my bottom teeth look weird?

Getting porcelain veneers only on your top teeth is very common. Usually, patients will receive in-office teeth whitening on the bottom teeth so we can custom-match the colors.  It is common to do the top teeth only, but if you want to go drastically lighter, or you don’t like your bottom teeth, we can do those too.

Will my veneers stain with coffee and wine?

Nope! Unlike natural teeth, porcelain veneers do not stain! But that doesn’t mean good hygiene is thrown out the window. Keep up with the good brushing and flossing techniques we teach you and your smile can stay fabulous for a lifetime.

Are all veneers created equal? What are “Lumineers”?

Not all veneers are created equal. We use a high-end, couture dental lab, that is known for its cosmetic work. Our veneers are custom-made for you from the strongest and most aesthetic material available.

Lumineers is a brand of veneers, kind of like “Walmart” is a brand for superstores. They were first marketed as “no prep veneers”, but have since shifted to a large dental lab, kind of like Walmart.

Why should I get my porcelain veneers done at Bling Dental?

Bling Dental has been doing veneers since we began in 2009. Our dentists, team members, and lab artists go to extra classes that focus specifically on cosmetic dentistry. Beyond our extra schooling, we have done thousands of veneers in our office. We know how to create beautiful smiles with healthy bites. We are experts in helping you achieve the smile of your dreams.

Can I get veneers on my teeth without taking any of my natural tooth structure off?

Sometimes we can do veneers without taking any of your natural tooth structure off. We can typically do this when you have small teeth, with spacing between them. If you have large teeth that you are trying to make smaller, if you have bubbly teeth, crowded teeth, or you don’t want to add bulk to your existing teeth, you will most likely need to have some of your enamel shaped down so that veneers will fit over them, and don’t look bulky. The amount of tooth structure that we remove for veneers, in most cases is between 1/2-1 millimeter... That is about 1/10th of a centimeter. Not a lot!

Is it painful to get veneers?

The process of getting veneers is not painful. You will be numb when we prepare your teeth for your veneers, and when we bond your veneers to your teeth. In some instances, your teeth may be sensitive after veneers, but this sensitivity dissipates over time. If you are worried about sensitivity, ask your dentist about Colgate Prevident, a prescription-strength toothpaste that will help your teeth heal more quickly. If you already have sensitive teeth, let your dentist and team know. There are things that we can do to your teeth so that your new veneers will make your teeth less sensitive.

I don’t like my gums when I smile, will veneers help make my gums look better?

Many times when we do veneers, we also do a gum lift. A gum lift is a very simple procedure that we complete with a laser. The procedure moves your gum tissue up, so that less gum tissue shows when you smile. We can also do this procedure to even out your gum tissue if your teeth are uneven in length.

Do I need to get a cleaning before I get veneers?

If you haven’t had a current cleaning (within the last 6 months to a year), we recommend that you get a cleaning done before you get your veneers. A dental cleaning is vital to keeping your gums and supporting bone healthy around your teeth and will help set the framework for a healthy smile and veneers.

I like the shape and color of my teeth, but I have crowding. Am I a candidate for veneers?

You may be a candidate for veneers, or you may be a candidate for Invisalign. The best way to determine if you should get veneers, Invisalign, or both is to complete a Smile Virtual consult on our website, or set up a cosmetic consult today. During that consult, we will go through the risks and benefits of each and give you our recommendations.

Another dentist told me that I need Invisalign before I get veneers. Do I need Invisalign?

You will need Invisalign before your veneers if the amount of crowding is more than can be fixed by doing veneers only, if you feel like your face has gotten shorter over time, or if your bottom teeth bite right into where we would need to place your veneers. Are you still confused?? Come see us, and we will tell you if we recommend Invisalign before your veneers.

Sometimes, Invisalign is recommended instead of veneers. If your tooth shape and color is great, but you have crowding that you don’t like, Invisalign may be a better option than veneers. If you are still confused, no worries, we are here to help. Schedule a consult today!

What if I want to fly into Portland and have Bling Dental do my veneers?

This is something that we do fairly often, and we have several hotels located close to our office:

If you are planning on flying in, we recommend that you do a Smile Virtual consult first, which will help you get an idea of the cost and the timeline for what you are hoping to achieve, and will also give you a chance to virtually connect with one of our dentists. We also recommend that you schedule your appointments in advance. Our schedule can get busy, and we want to ensure you get all of the appointments that you need. Many times we can complete your treatment in a 1-2 week trip after a virtual consult is done.

If you would like help making arrangements and setting up your appointments when you are in town, please call us at 503-227-2444. We will happily assist you.

I have veneers but don’t like them. Can you help me?

Yes! One of Dr. Katie’s favorite procedures is “reparative veneers”. We replace veneers that a patient isn’t entirely happy with veneers that are old, or that have fallen off. There is hope! Bling Dental can help!
